A Remake in VR

A partial re-make of the classic using the Oculus Rift, Razer Hydra and Leap Motion.

Super Mario 64 VR

If you've played the original, you'll remember what a massive leap experiencing it was from the 2D Mario games before it. This is an attempt to get that same kind of feeling by taking the classic to the next level in gaming.

You can see the original Princess' Castle and Bobomb Battlefield in sterescopic first person using the Oculus Rift and look around the same environments with head tracking as if you're finally in there yourself. You can have your hands appear in front of you, grab and throw objects such as Bobombs or punch Goombas using hand tracking with the Razer Hydra or the Leap Motion.

Where could the project head in the future? There's the possibility to re-create more levels from the original or other features not yet added. Multiplayer can be introduced, such as co-op with another player as Luigi or even a battle mode where players have a punch off, throw Bob-ombs and shells at each other. There are many other devices out now or coming soon for VR which can be integrated, some examples being the Sony Morpheus, MYO, Sixense STEM, Virtuix Omni and PrioVR.

You can download the game and try it out for yourself. Preferrably, you should have the Oculus Rift DK2 and either the Razer Hydra or Leap Motion to best experience the demo.
